In the second part of their discussion in the Business of OTT series, Chris Linden and Ronald Brockmann discuss some of the technological challenges they faced when launching AppCloud, ActiveVideo’s new solution for delivering OTT content to the TV. AppCloud lives in the public cloud and delivers apps from a virtualized Android platform.
Ronald explains the challenges of delivering content to a multitude of devices with different characteristics and how a new wave of innovation with virtualization infrastructure and technology created for AppCloud enabled the team to handle the majority of these challenges.
And as the industry transitions from IPv4 to IPv6, Ronald outlines the impact it's having on delivering OTT. AppCloud is certainly moving the industry forward in terms of fully supporting IPv6, whereas in the ad tech space there is a lag and ActiveVideo is closely working with those partners to make sure they're moving forward.
