With the OTT industry in growth mode, here at ActiveVideo we are in a great position to help our operator customers provide the very best next-generation OTT experiences to their subscribers. With a truly innovative approach in our AppCloud solution, we are able to bridge between the content community and the service provider community, simplifying and accelerating the best OTT entertainment to millions of television subscribers around the world. That’s why we’ve introduced a new role in our executive team and I am really pleased to announce that Ed Lee has joined the team this month as Senior Vice President of Global Content Strategy and Partnerships.
Ed is taking on the job of driving our content strategy and partnership efforts worldwide. He will lead all engagement with the content community to ensure our operator customers have the broadest content offering available to offer to their subscribers. This will include all aspects of content acquisition and management from early engagement with the content community through onboarding, publishing and management of applications in our AppCloud platform.
Ed comes to ActiveVideo with many years experience gained across the digital media space. He started out at ReplayTV, the first digital video recorder company and most recently spent nearly a decade at Roku, running its content acquisition team and leading the effort to build a massive content library across all verticals of programming.
Here are Ed’s comments on why he chose to join the team: “Simply put, it was the passion from the team and their enthusiasm for the AppCloud platform. It enables any APK to run entirely in the cloud without any additional development - that’s a game changing shift in how the industry will be thinking about the future of application development as the OTT business continues to mature and evolve. While the OTT industry is still relatively young, the constant innovation in content delivery and development, ad tech, analytics and of course programming make this an incredibly exciting time to be a player in this space.”
Tyler Bell has also recently joined us as Vice President of Product Management to lead the team of product engineers and managers in San Jose and Hilversum. Tyler has been leading product teams for two decades. A former archeologist, Dr. Bell (not that he ever lets us call him that) most recently led the voice technology product team at Roku, with previous stints at Mapbox, Factual, and Yahoo, and his own startup, a spin-out of Oxford University. Tyler specializes in bringing new technologies to established markets, a great fit for what we're doing now at ActiveVideo. In Tyler's words:
"This is a great crew and a great product. As technologies move increasingly to the cloud, it's a perfect time to examine closely what OTT capabilities really need to be on the box. The ActiveVideo team has found a solution that divorces app requirements from what the device hardware can support, ensuring that the consumers can run the most recent OTT apps on any device that has a GPU. This off-the-box thinking solves a host of technical and business problems endemic to the connected TV space, and I'm delighted to be part of the team that brings these ideas to life."
Welcome to you both Ed and Tyler - it’s great to have you on board!
