Overview

The CloudTV™ H5 software platform combines the power of HTML5 with the Cloud to deliver and deploy advanced TV services to any generation of STB. . . today.

By centering the app rendering platform inside the cloud, and not in the box, CloudTV™ H5 removes the thousands of STB dependencies within the development and deployment of advanced TV services. This allows service providers to quickly build high-end and consistent user experiences and to deploy them en masse to any box. Write once, deploy everywhere. Quickly.

After overcoming fragmentation, service providers can enjoy a reduction in the high CAPEX/OPEX expenditures required to build, deploy, and support high-end boxes in the home. In fact, deployment results are showing higher returns per CPE when cloud-based processing is involved in advanced TV service delivery.

Again, we do this by centering the majority of the labor – app development and web browsing -- within the network. We then make sure all user services are transcoded and streamed in unicast as MPEG-2/H.264 to any CPE. So any home can have access to the latest next generation television.

CloudTV H5™ software moves the browser into the cloud, giving legacy and cost-reduced STBs access to advanced web-like features normally achieved by heavy in-box processing. A fully-formed user experience is streamed to the user’s device, and subscribers control the experience by using their existing remote controls to send key presses to the remote server, controlling the application. The latency, or delay, between a customer key press and the UI or application response is so minimal that users do not perceive that the on-screen experience is coming from miles away.

And CloudTV™ H5 is highly interoperable and fits within any operator’s network. It was designed to interface with existing and future services within the network AND within the box including transcoding, security, authorization, authentication, middleware, billing systems, resource management and others. Operating the platform is straightforward as it is built to run on Linux and interoperate with industry-standard operations and management systems.

STB middleware providers enjoy strong benefits as well. With the power of CloudTV™ H5, they can move some of the functionality into the cloud, reducing the processing load on the box.

New networks are not a problem: With our CloudTV™ H5 QAM and CloudTV™ H5 IP versions, service providers can be ready for any new network advances lightning fast.
