With its recent acquisition of Avinity Systems, ActiveVideo is poised to show how it is redefining interactive television (iTV 2.0) across the full range of consumer electronics devices, including the emerging CI+ standard in Europe. The same cloud-based architecture that is being deployed by Tier 1 cable system operators in the United States enables the delivery of a uniform interactive experience on integrated digital televisions and set-top boxes equipped with plug-in CI+ modules.
Using the ActiveVideo platform, operators who support the CI+ standard can provide such advanced applications as VoD navigation, rich interactive ads and Web video to television sets without the need for a separate digital or IPTV set-top box. Viewers interact with television content just as they do on the Web, enabling operators, programmers and advertisers to increase engagement at the TV, where the value of viewers is greatest.
